Saikyo~ The Duo Return

Yes, Saikyo and Demajen are back in FFXI, after an absence of several months. Dema is currently dabbling with Corsair and Blue Mage, but I am too scared to go back to the Dunes just yet so I am working on Operation Subjob to level up THF, WAR and WHM to 37 so I don't have to worry about them again.

Today was the turn of THF. There were tons of people online in my range (a nice change) and I got an invite more or less right after putting my flag up. It was from "Pimplimp" a taru bard. I headed out to the 1st jungle, where the PT had a camp just outside the entrance to Sea Serpent Grotto, fighting Pugs and Sahagain. (spelt right? Who cares?) I've never actually XPed here before, but it seemed a good camp for 29-31. Once someone hit 32 XP dropped off quite a bit.

The PT was a bit odd, NIN, 2 x THF, 1 x BRD, 1 x WHM and 1 x COR, but it worked well in its own strange way. I got to do SATA while the other THF used SA as and when he could, and we did decent damage. The Japanese COR was subbing RNG and did a fair share too.

I was pretty fascinated to watch the COR in action, it looked a very busy job and he seemed to bust as often as he buffed. Still, the XP bonus from Corsair's Roll was very welcome. We XPed away, I dinged 31 and we were cruising until the BRD hit 32 and XP dropped quite a bit.

The Nin tank announced he had to go in 10 minutes, the BRD also had to go and the other THF said he'd leave too. No problem, had made good XP in the hour or so I'd been there. Pimplimp says "{Disbanding Party} @ 10 mins OK?" and everyone agrees.

We do a few more fights and then a Blue Mage by the name of Meli appears. Pimplimp passes leader to the WHM, tells him to invite Meli, and then disbands. We do another fight, then the Ninja disbands without a word. We do one more fight (which I tanked ^.^;;) and then take a pause.

Obviously Meli wanted to know whether we're getting a 6th, and when we told her that we weren't and were expecting to disband, she was a bit miffed. Ok, more than a bit miffed. More like extremely angry indeed! Obviously we were all very apologetic, but her anger was directed at Pimplimp. Apparently he is part of the LS Infidels, which according to Meli, "Half its members are assholes the other HNMLSs rejected". The PT disbanded with Meli promising vengeance on Pimplimp, and I was too scared to hang out to find out just what that might entail!

So, if Pimplimp ever invites you to be a replacement, bear this cautionary tale in mind!
