FFXI Linkshell Community Beta // New Speakers

Square-Enix announced today a new web-based service for FFXI players that has rather intrigued me. The FFXI Linkshell Community service is a site where members of a Linkshell can gather and discuss, regardless of where they are in the world. It offers auto-updating profiles of all LS members. I assume it will also automatically track who has a pearl to which LS, though that wasn't stated on the news update which is available HERE... well the EU version is anyway. NA version of the news is almost identical and available HERE.

There are a couple of screenshots of the interface, which look quite spiffy and are covered in moogles, which everybody loves (to eat! >:D)

Services that are being offered seem to include
- Auto-Updating character profiles for all LS members (jobs/skills/missions etc)
- Exclusive LS message board/forum for LS chat
- LS search function (for finding other LSs/players?)

There's also a warning about registering your info on other social networking sites.

In other news, I finally replaced my ancient Creative 5.1 speakers with a new set. Unlike the previous set, which weren't REALLY full 5.1 speakers (no central channel), these things are the real deal. I was playing around with them last night to test em out, and discovered that turning the bass all the way up is a BAD IDEA! The subwoofer is so damned strong I could feel my heart protesting in my chest, there is that much bass!! I like bass. I don't like heart attacks. I shall be turning the bass down, except during parties at home ;)

I haven't yet tested the volume control. Its currently set quite happily at 6 out of 10. I tried ramping it up to 7 and it got very loud, very quickly. I fear what the max of 10 is like!!

At least I know I'm getting value for money :)

No FFXI news yet this week. Have been busy with Life™ and Stuff™.
