The Pelican, the pelican, its beak holds more than its belly can!

Long time readers may remember a while back I entered the Fish Ranking competition with a Titanictus weighing 966 pz. I was pretty vexed to find that I had Ranking:{X} even for this sizeable beast. As a result, I hadn't bothered to check the Ranking board when the competition ended.

Today, bored by frutiless LFG and vexed by lack crafting ingredients, I wandered over to Selbina to see just where I had placed. I had a pleasant surprise.

In at 12th place (out of 50 on the leaderboard). Not bad! Certainly an improvement on 24th place last time round (out of 42 entries). This entitled me to claim a Pelican Ring, a nice little item that allows you to cast an enchantment to improve skillup rate while fishing. After the horror of breaking my rod (no sniggering) I now feel the time is right to hit the rivers, lakes and seas of Vana'diel once again.

Incidently, would just like to say I wish SE would hurry up and provide a use for some of the new expansion fish. At the moment I believe only one (Lakerda) has any use (it can be used in Tuna Sushi). Now I can appreciate that making all the new fish usable in existing synths would hurt the fish market, but why not allow some of the fish to be turned into Zaldon at least? At the moment they're novelty items that get sold to NPCs for 50 gil or put in a bazaar as a trophy until you need the inventory space. Bah.

That said, the less I have to do with Zaldon, the better..... o.O
