An Unusual Occurance

As I hope Saik will attest to, I have a tendency to make good parties. Its a knack, and until today, was almost a 100% success rate.

Today there was "An Unusual Occurance".

Ya see, the party I made looked pretty good on paper.

NIN51, NIN51, BLU53, WAR53, RDM53, SMN52

We have refresh, we have dispel, we have blink tanks, we have pretty heavy damage dealers. So what was the problem.

Well, there were several:

The Camp

The Boyahda Tree

As party leader, my first choice was the Boyahda Tree. Versus spiders. They're squishy, they take loads of damage. We'd rip through them. They'd mostly be VT-low IT. It'd be great.

We didn't go. No WHM. Slow sucks. Whine Whine Whine Ninja Tanks Whine Whine Whine No Erase Whine Whine Whine.

Quicksand Caves

Okay, I say, lets go to Quicksand Caves. Kill beetles and antica. This was fine for everyone, so we teleported out to Altep, and grabbed a chocobo to J-9 in Eastern Altepa Desert.

Of course, when we got there, we found two parties there, cos one party leader was on /anon and therefore I didn't see him on the area search. Instead of pressing on and enduring probably low xp due to lack of mobs, we actually did the sensible thing. I apologised, and we decided to relocate to Kuftal Tunnel.

Kuftal Tunnel

Upon arriving at Kuftal Tunnel, we find one party stretched out along the entirety of the opening ramp. Rather than camp on top of them (which I find abhorently rude when someone does it to me) we moved further down into the main area. There we actually started fighting.

In 30 minutes we fought 4 mobs.

The first two I was able to Skillchain twice on. Chain Affinity has a recast of 2mins and I had to get TP too, so I'd say they took about 6 minutes each to kill.

The third mob, both one of the NINs and the WAR dced, leaving four of us to kill the crab, which only yielded 150xp.

THEN some asshole NIN75 called Ambrose came sailing through the cavern and killed all of the remaining crabs while we waited for the two d/cs to reappear, which they did shortly after so we had to wait eons for repops.

I scouted around, found people skillupping at one end, and the RMT Amemet hunters at the other. I suggested we move camp back to the tunnel at the entrance because the crabs in the main room were too high.

People moaned. We fought one more mob, then one of the two parties from Quicksand Caves showed up. I suggested that we move back there and try and get some momentum.

Then the RDM started moaning, saying that the XP would be crap in Quicksand Caves and told me to find a replacement. I basically said fuck it, sort it out amongst yourselves, and I disbanded and warped.

I hate doing that - it's only the 3rd occasion in almost 3 years that I've done so ~ but I just couldn't face moaning and bitching. There were no Refreshers LFG anyways, so we'd have just wasted MORE time.

So I got maybe 800xp total (xp ring was on for one of the mobs, but I'd spent too long LFG after my last party for it to last much after that). Now at 9k tnl and my new AF pants.
