Would you like to toot my flute?

A rooty-toot-toot, Dema has a flute. That's right Ladies, Gentlemen and Galka, Dema's playing BRD again.

Why?

Well.... actually I haven't a clue why I'm playing BRD at all. In fact, in Saik's extended absence (lucky bastard is away on holiday [at a conference]) I haven't really felt like playing FFXI much at all. I have instead spent my time away from the PC and its temptations writing an 11,000 word plot synopsis for the first two books in the trilogy that I am working on for my Masters in Creative Writing, and playing the rather excellent Kingdom Hearts (more on this in the main Demajen.net blog).

But last night I logged into FFXI after seeing the news that Square Enix is gonna update the Samurai job finally, kitted up my lv.16 Samurai, and then discovered I wasn't really in the mood for going to level in the Dunes. With this plan foiled, I looked through my jobs list at all the jobs at really awkward numbers.

Paladin is at 24 (almost 25) but that is the job I am playing in the Ansible LS static, so that has to stay where it is.

Corsair is at 21, one level away from decent bullets, but I don't really have the funds for it still.

Leaving me with Bard at the rather odd level 27. I have no idea what made me leave BRD at 27 in the first place, but I figured that I should at least get it to the nice round 30, maybe even 37 so I could sub it to DRK for Raptor Mazurka; or MAYBE it could be my new pet "get-to-60" project, since WAR is on hold until I get back into the game properly, and BRD does seem to be the job to play for copious JP invites (which is handy since my late nights are gonna have to disappear by necessity now, what with seminars to attend and such).

Ideally I should quit FFXI, but I won't. I will more than likely play it till something much better comes along. But I am tapering off my playing for the moment, just to see how I'm going to balance my workload. I still have the Ansible LS static on Thursday nights (well, midnight - 3am on Friday for we Brits really) so I shall look forwards to that (yes I'll admit it, PLD was rather entertaining with a party who knows what they are doing!) Otherwise I shall just plug away at BRD when I feel like it and I am not either writing or playing Kingdom Hearts II which should be reaching me fairly soon (Amazon say 3rd-5th October).
